Back to my story while I was in Taiwan joining BACT NTU. That day July
14th 2018 we went to National Palace Museum, but first we were coming to Shung
Ye Museum of Formosan Aborigin. It located very near from National Palace
Museum, only 5 minute walking. We use city bus to go there. This is my first
time using bus in Taiwan. I like to ride the bus. It is clean and comfortable,
I sit with Sarah and she said she also like to use public transportation.
Inside Shung
Ye Museum of Formosan Aborigin
We have guided tour here. The tour guide is very good
on explaining the content of the museum. First she take us to look around in th
first floor. The first floor is about people and natural environment of Taiwan.
An introduction to environment inhabited by Taiwan indigenous people is
displayed. The interpretation of the aborigin people is displayed in an
informative board. There is a Yami (Tao) fishing boat representing the maritime
environment. The most interesting part in the first floor for me is slate
sculpture of Taiwan.
It not only regular sculpture but it has sound and
light effect that tell about how the aborigin tradition before hunting or
sailing. Next we go down on level B1. In level B1 (underground) is an introduction
to various aspects of the animalistic beliefs, ancestral spirit worship and
head-hunting customs of Taiwan indigenous people. I feel the head hunting part
is very strange and less scary because I don’t think they hunt people’s head.
But actually they head hunting on human head! They will hunt on their neighbor!
Next we go to second floor. It displays about
livelihoods utensils and Dwellings. There are a lot of Paiwan Ancient Ceramics
Pot. There are also display about how the live of the people. Woman is the
center of the family. Even on the love live the woman is the one who choosing
husband and if more than one woman want a man they will solve the matter by
themself. Man have no choice to pick a wife.
Then we go to third floor. This floor is the most
interesting part for me. It display s broad range material is used for clothing
and decoration of Taiwan indigenous peoples, and many distinctive features
could be seen in their design. I also amazed with their culture about tattoo.
They can not get married before they have tattoo. It show that tattoo is important for them.
After exploring the museum we heading on restaurant
for lunch. The restaurants is nice and very near to the National Palace Museum.
I really like the dessert that I order. I forget the name of this desert but I couldn’t forgot the taste. It was not to sweet it a little bit sour actually, and that what
makes this dessert is refreshing.
I happily go to
the National Palace Museum. We have a guided tour there. I look at a lot of
thing that some belong to the imperials.
I have a great time but not taking many pictures
because the lighting inside the museum is not bright. But this one sculpture
was intrigue me.
This sculpture is a beautiful woman in that era. Long time ago a fat woman was the beautiful one. It was polar opposite with situation today when every woman is trying to be thin. I think whether you are fat or thin is not important because the amount of fat in your body couldn't describe how amazing human being you are ^_^
After that I went to Tamsui river. Maybe I will save that story for my next post.. See you.. XOXO..
