Normal Day at Taipei (Typhoon Preparation)

This post will continue to tell you my story when I was doing summer park at National Taiwan University (NTU). That day we suppose to go to Yeliu Geopark but the weather was not supporting. The forecast said there will be a typhoon, so we will find some other time to go. We get two lecturers instead for the morning section. They are the introduction of forests in Taiwan and River ecology. We supposed to have Chinese language class in the afternoon but it got canceled because of typhoon prediction. When I was looked at the sky that morning it already dark, but the wind was not too strong. I bought my breakfast at SevenEleven.

My favorite breakfast when I was staying at Taipei is Rice ball and banana milk. It was not easy for me to find halal food in the morning in Taipei. It also quite a challenge for me to find products that not containing pork because the shopkeeper didn’t know English and I couldn't speak Chinese.. Luckily I got help from the student of NTU that also shopping there. So I bought riceball with chicken flavor but I was not full without milk to complete it. I like banana so I choose banana flavor for my milk. It was okay for me, not bad but also not that great, at least it prevents me from starving myself.

I went back to my room and I was surprised that I met an unexpected visitor. It was grasshopper!!! I was surprised because of my room at the fifth floor and he sitting enjoyingly at my window. Idk if it's because of typhoon or else. I was happy though these little things come to my room.

can you spot the grasshopper?
After that, I went to the convenience store to buy some food to prepare for typhoons. I thought Jack is exaggerating when he said we may not get any food because all the people already buy it. We leave campus earlier and my friends and I went to a convenience store to buy food. But there are some stock in the convenience store that empty. There is also a long line of people waiting for paying. This situation never happens in my country.

It was empty! I couldn’t believe it. But I guess better safe than sorry, so I also buy instant noodles, instant porridge, and fruits. Jack reminds us to buy water, but I already have enough water in my room so I didn’t buy any water and pray that my water is enough through the typhoon. I was grateful that until the following day the typhoon didn’t destroy anything. Surely at some point the wind id strong but it was not destructive. I can’t wait to share more of my days in Taiwan.. ^_^

See you on the next post.. XOXO..
